Kolkata (Bangla: কলকাতা)(formerly Calcutta) is the capital of West Bengal and one of the largest cities in India. It is also the largest city in the historic region of Bengal (today's West Bengal and Bangladesh). Kolkata is an 'in your face' city that shocks and charms the unsuspecting visitor. Long known as the cultural capital of India and home to the Bengal Renaissance, Kolkata continues to spawn generations of poets, writers and film directors. If your trip only allows for a visit of one or two of India's metropolitan cities, than definitely consider placing Kolkata on your itinerary. Love it or hate it, you definitely won't forget the city on the Hooghly river bank.
As of 2008, its economic output as measured by gross domestic productranked third among South Asian cities, behind Mumbai and Delhi.[6] As a growing metropolitan city in a developing country, Kolkata confronts substantial urban pollution, traffic congestion, poverty, overpopulation, and other logistic and socioeconomic problems.

Indian Museum

One of the prime attractions of the city the Indian Museum was established way back in 1878. The Indian museum also happens to be the largest museum in the country spread across almost ten thousand square feet area. There are over sixty galleries of art pertaining to archaeology, zoology, anthropology, geology, and botany.

Victoria Memorial
Built in 1906 in the memory of Queen Victoria by the British in India, Victoria Memorial is one of the best pieces of architecture after the Taj Mahal in the country. Spread across 60 acres of lush greeneries this marvelous marble palace forms the focal point of interests of most of the travelers to Kolkata. Serving as a museum in the current day the Victoria Memorial provides a number of portraits of eminent personalities, galleries with paintings and documents that offer a glimpse of the city's history during the British era.

Birla Planetarium

Established in 1963, Birla Planetarium was the first astronomical auditorium in India. A dome shaped Planetarium that has been built on the lines of the Buddhist Stupa at Sanchi this place of interest in Kolkata can provide you with the telescopic views of the stars, asteroids, moon, planets etc.

Howrah Bridge

Synonymous with Kolkata, the Howrah Bridge is popularly known as the Rabindra Setu. A distinguished gem in the name of architecture and engineering the Howrah Bridge is rated as one of the most beautiful and busy bridges in the world. The bridge forms a connecting link between Kolkata and Howrah. If you really want to appreciate the beauty of this bridge then you can take a boat ride in the calm Ganges.

Kalighat Temple

Kalighat temple is one of the most known landmarks and holy places in Kolkata. In 16th century, Sabarna Roychowdhury, the zamindar of the city established this temple. In later periods, the temple has undergone changes many times and the present temple was established in 1809. It is located in present South Kolkata and visited by hundreds and thousands of devotees throughout the year. It is believed that one of the body parts of Sati during the ravaging dance, Pralay, fell here. But this is the mythological part. The modern story is based on this myth. The place is well-connected via metro, bus and rail to the other parts of the city and getting there is easy enough.

Dakshineswar Temple

Dakshineswar Temple is 20 km north from the city central and enjoys everyday thousands of visits. In 1847, the queen of Janbazar, Rani Rasmani, established this holy place of Kolkata. The place is well-known to the pious Hindus its associations with religious thinkers like Shri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. The vast courtyard, the grove adjacent and the ever-flowing Ganges will gift a touch of serenity to any devout visitor. One of the best holy places in Kolkata, Dakshineswar temple is an architectural spectacle as well. Across the river, the Belur Math is also amongst the greatest holy places of Kolkata.

St. Paul's Cathedral

Just to the east of the famous landmark of Kolkata, Victoria Memorial, this church is situated. The holy place of Kolkata that has been providing prayer space for the Christians of the city for years was built up in 1847. But since then it has gone through collapses and renovation many times. The cathedral is 247 ft high and the first ever Episcopal Cathedral in an Asian country.

Fort William

Named after King William III Fort William was built by Robert Clive in the year 1781. Situated on the banks of the Hooghly River this fort is spread over 532 acres of land. Built in the shape of an octagon this fort offers six gates namely St Georges Chowringhee, Plassey, Calcutta, Water gate, and the Treasury Gate. This fort has the distinction of being the only fort in the world from where not a bullet was fired. The fort is gigantic in size and houses a museum that consists of swords, arms and armors, muskets and machine guns which are kept on display for visitors.

Vidyasagar Setu

A manifestation of contemporary engineering the Vidyasagar Setu is commonly known as the Second Hooghly bridge. Built over the river Hooghly, this bridge forms a connecting link between Howrah and Kolkata. Built on the lines on International bridges this bridge is constructed on large steel cables that support the structure.

Shahid Minar

A rare example of Turkish, Egyptian and Syrian architecture the Sahid Minar was built in the year 1848. Also known as Ochterlony Monument this tall monument was built to celebrate the victory of Sir David Ochterlony's victory in the Nepal War (1814-1816). One of the most frequented monuments in Kolkata that is a huge crowd puller is located in Central Kolkata. The Minar offers a comprehensive view of almost the entire city.

Kolkata is completely accessible by air. There are a number of domestic airlines that connect Kolkata with other major cities of India. Kolkata is well linked to other parts of the country by railways. The city of joy is well linked with almost all the cities of India by road.

Day 3rd

After Breakfast free for personal Activities. After lunch transfer to Railway Station / Airport.
